Step 1: Go Green. Eat two servings a day of dark, leafy greens such as kale, collard greens and spinach. These foods contain carotenoids that have been shown to reduce the risk of developing macular degeneration and cataracts.

Step 6: Exercise 3 times a week for 30 minutes. Studies show that elevating your heart rate through aerobic exercise can decrease the pressure inside the eyes, which helps reduce the risk of glaucoma.
Step 7: Learn to love orange. Foods such as carrots, butternut squash and pumpkin all contain beta-carotene that has been shown to help keep eyes healthy.
